Forests Introduction
BC’s forests—our forests—are a vital part of the history of the Province. Our forests should remain an equally vital part of our future.
But change is necessary—real,
innovative solutions that promote local control, competition, revenue
sharing, and sustainability.
Hopeful change is possible! But not under the watch of the current Minister of Forests and Range, Rich Coleman. It's time for a new Minister!
Real solutions exist to BC's ongoing forest crisis. The Coalition for Sustainable Forest
Solutions, along with ordinary British Columbians, are taking part in a growing provincial movement to usher in local, sustainable control of our Forest legacy.
Unfortunately, the current BC government has jammed through sweeping forestry changes that bestow more corporate control of public resources, increase corporate subsidies and promote privatization—all concepts opposed by most British Columbians.
As the 20% tenure reallocation shows, the current government's assault on our towns and forests—on rural B.C.’s future—can be stopped, but only by working together.
