Data Entry Assistants

Our petition to keep our north coast oil tanker free is really taking off, and we need your help to get all of the petitioners names into our system.   Join our growing volunteer team in the Dogwood Initiative Office in Victoria to help us with this important task,  email Matt Takach or call 250-370-9930 x21 for more information.

Local Campaigners

Things are really starting to heat up with the campaign and we need your help to push things to the next level.  Please take a few seconds to check out our activist toolkit, print off the petition and some posters and get out in your community and help build the momentum http://www.dogwoodinitiative.org/notankers/

We need local action teams in every city and town, talk to your friends and neighbours call your MP, MLA and municipal leaders.

Dogwood Initiative's ongoing volunteers needs

The growing movement for sustainable land reform needs you!

If you care about democracy, human rights and the natural world, consider volunteering.  Dogwood Initiative is looking for volunteers that believe British Columbia can become a model for the world—and want to help make their beliefs become reality.

Dogwood Initiative needs your help. We need volunteers to fill the following positions within our organization. In return we will offer you:

  • a fun and social work environment
  • experience of working within the non profit sector
  • the opportunity to exchange skills and information so that we can both grow and learn from the experience
  • the opportunity to make a difference

Campaign Assistant

Working on the nascent campaign to get big money out of politics. You’ll be updating our database of political contributions and carrying out research and other tasks to get this important campaign off the ground.

Party Host

Do you have friends that you think should hear about us?  Invite them over and we'll come and talk about our work.  Help us spread the word!

Communications Assistant

Help us broaden popular access to information about sustainable, local control of land.  You’ll have a broad range of applied communications taks including keeping an eye out for stories that you think might interest other Dogwood Initiative supporters and posting them onto our website with comment, archiving images, transcribing interviews and keeping our media contact lists up to date.

Media Bias researcher

You’ll be investigating and reporting on media bias during the last provincial election.

Database Consultant

An experienced volunteer with familiarity with developing and managing databases to work with Dogwood Initiative staff to implement 2 projects:

  1. Streamlining our organization’s in-house contacts database to facilitate better reporting and communication;
  2. Building a database from government data that quantifies amount of logging and revenue generated for specific First Nations' territories and communities.
  3. Building a database of contributions to political parties in BC.

Financial Campaign Advisors

An experienced volunteer familiar with various types of corporate finance (equity, credit etc)—particularly in the resource sector—to advise Dogwood Initiative staff and partners on the most effective ways to influence financial markets related to BC forest, land and energy issues.

Corporate Financial Research

An experienced volunteer with familiarity with corporate finance to help research companies in the resource sector to help identify the most effective ways to influence financial markets related to BC forest, land and energy issues.

Office Assistant

An experienced volunteer with good typing and information management skills to work with Dogwood Initiative staff providing the administrative backbone for our programs. Experience with QuickBooks an advantage.

Web Designer

An experienced volunteer with familiarity with DreamWeaver, Fireworks/PhotoShop and Flash to work with Dogwood Initiative staff to maintain, improve and implement our innovative online communication strategy.

Graphic designer

An experienced volunteer with familiarity with Microsoft Office, Publisher, PowerPoint, PageMaker or In Design to help Dogwood Initiative staff develop a variety of communication documents.

Videographer

An experienced cameraman to interview Dogwood Initiative staff, First Nations and community partners, and to publish video clips over the internet.

Special Events Coordinator

To work with Dogwood Initiative's Office Manager and Development Director to organize events for Dogwood Initiative supporters and donors.

Special Events Helpers

To attend festivals and events across BC and help out in whatever capacity required – from looking after a Dogwood Initiative stall to putting out chairs. This position holds the added bonus of free admission to festivals!

Fund Development Assistant

To work with the Development Director to manage the fundraising program for British Columbia ’s fastest growing environmental/social justice organization. Help a young organization develop and integrate its direct mail, grant writing, major donor campaigns.

Outreach Coordinator

Work with Dogwood Initiative staff to recruit, train and support a network of community speakers to broaden support for sustainable land reform in BC.
